for Google map showing the location. Owned by the Wyevale group of garden centres, Tarporley was renamed in 2009 to reflect the fact that it was a local garden centre. Tarporley Garden Centre has an interesting history. It was founded in 1963 as commercial growers of tomatoes and chrysanthemums. New owners in the 70s expanded the site and re-focused it onto producing house plants. At one time it housed the longest greenhouse in Europe. It was taken over by the Jardiniere chain of garden centre in 1986 and then subsequently taken over by Wyevale's. They stock a good selection of plants with Wyevale Garden Centres five year hardy plant guarantee. they have also expanded their interior sales area which stocks lots of non-gardening goods with special emphasis on the profitable garden and indoor furniture lines. They also sell books, cards, gifts, bird fee and more. A cafe is on site selling home made food, coffees, teas snacks and cakes. |
