Spring Reach Nursery is dedicated to growing top quality plants without the trappings of gift shops and cafeterias. It began life in 1997 and over several years has grown to become a significant supplier of home grown plants in the area. Over 80% of the plants sold are grown on site and the remainder are sourced as locally as possible from other UK suppliers.
Their specialities include clematis, perennials, evergreens, roses and ornamental trees such as Japanese maples. They also devote much effort to stocking plants for particular purposes and they have the expertise and time to advise on these. Rabbit and deer proof plants have long been one area they excel in but also they have an excellent range of plants for problem areas such as chalk, clay and shade. Hedging is another area where Spring Reach Nursery excel and they can offer you top quality and plants to suit your needs exactly.
Most of the plants are laid out on the ground in a very simple plants nursery fashion however the labelling and signage is excellent for locating the plants you are interested in.
The nursery is laid out over several acres and it's easy to spend an hour or so wandering round in what is a very attractive setting. It's less than four miles from RHS Wisley and Spring Reach Nursery has the distinct advantage of not being over run by tourists.
The cafe is smaller than we would have expected for a garden centre of this size with only 30 seats indoors. They have a large outdoor seating area if the weather is good and the view over the plants area and beyond is very pleasant. The quality of the food is consistently good although service can be a bit lacking especially during peak hours. For those not not able to travel to the nursery they have a comprehensive mail order facility with very reasonable delivery charges.Other garden centres / plant nurseries in the Ockham area include Garsons at Esher, Bourne Valley Garden Centre, Woking Garden Centre and Wyevale Garden Centres at Woking.
