Bourne Valley Garden centre is family run and started life in 1952 as a very small plants nursery. It is now a fully developed medium to large sized garden centre. It appears that currently they are also returning to their roots by growing some of their own seasonal plants as well as herbaceous plants and shrubs.
The plants area contains everything the average gardener might need including seasonal plants, shrubs, roses, climbers as well as ornamental and fruit trees. They stock vegetable starter plants in season and a good choice of small herbs.
Inside one of their specialities is Weber barbecues with a huge display. Other manufacturers include Swiss Grill and Cadac barbecues. This garden centre is definitely worth visiting if outdoor cooking is to your liking. Timber and landscaping materials, including a very large choice of frost-resistant pots and planters, feature strongly in the outdoor area.
As befits a garden centre of this size they sell gardening accessories, gifts, cards and clothing. The large display of indoor, conservatory and outdoor furniture is supplied by well known brands such as Alexander Rose, Hartman, Barlow Tyrie and several others. There is a large area given over to water features and outdoor lighting.
The Farm Shop is well stocked with cheeses, chutneys, freezer foods, deli items and a new bread bakery. If you have a swimming pool then Falcon pools are on site supplying the necessary chemicals, accessories and they will build and / or maintain swimming pools for you. Lawn mowers and their maintenance are all handled by David Attfields. Rather bizarrely there is also a ladies and gents hairdressers in case a haircut takes your fancy after buying some plants.
Bourne Valley Garden Centre have their own Reward Card discount scheme offering vouchers for 5% of your total spend. The card is free. For more details and a comparison with schemes offered by other garden centres click here.
The cafe area is light and airy with large windows to one side overlooking the plants sales area.
The cafe was awarded a four star food hygiene rating in August 2013, click here for more information.
