Findern Garden Centre is a largish garden centre owned by Wyevale Garden Centres. It is laid out and stocked in the same way as many others from the same company. Originally it began life in 1953 and was known as Oakdale Nurseries. At first it started out selling vegetables, flowers and fruit from a small stall and over the next 30 years expanded to include trees, plants and general gardening goods.
Wyevale Garden Centres renamed it as the Findern Garden Centre in 2009 and expanded the site even further. They grow much of their own stock in the UK but also importing some from abroad. The plants are always top quality and hardy plants are sold with a life time guarantee. The layout of the plants area is uninspiring but paths are wide, uncluttered and wheel-chair friendly. The range of plants is good and will satisfy the needs of most gardeners.
Inside they stock all the normal gardening goods at about average prices. In addition they sell house plants, gifts, cards, garden and conservatory furniture, cookware and more. There is a small kids play area but it does not really amount to much.
Other garden centres nearby include Swarkestone Nursery, a family run plants nursery / garden centre with a very popular cafe, Lanes Garden Centre which is really and open farm which sells seasonal plants and the Blue Diamond Derby Garden Centre.
