CAFE REVIEW
RANGE OF FOOD
The cafe at Polhill Garden Centre provides a good selection of food
with three main meals and lots snack / light meals including baked
potatoes. There was a range of coffees, teas and cakes for sale.
QUALITY OF FOOD
Good quality food, presented well are one of the plus points for
this cafe. Not only are the ingredients good quality but they are
cooked well. One of our orders was a five item breakfast and we
asked for our fried egg to be cooked semi-hard - just to be awkward!
It was served exactly as we requested, full marks to the chef.
DECOR AND SEATING
The restaurant is a dedicated area and it has been well designed.
The seating area is very pleasant with windows to three sides and an
exposed brick wall at the end. The view from the large window was
onto the garden centre and very pleasant. No boring flat ceiling
here, it's contoured and looks good. The furniture is a slight
disappointment compared to the interior decor, it's plain functional
and plastic. The cafe has seating inside and outside for sunny days.
SERVICE
Service is top class, helpful but unobtrusive, there is definitely a
"nothing is too much" atmosphere to the service. Some meals are
served to your table by pleasant staff. There was no queue when we
visited but it was on a Monday at 11.30.
THE PRICES
Prices were on the low side with example prices being baguettes at
£3.80, sandwiches were about £4 depending on filling, toasties £4 to
£4.50, chef special main meals from £6.99 and children's meal box at
£4.
CONCLUSION
A very pleasantly decorated cafe with good atmosphere serving good
quality food at competitive prices. It has our full recommendation.
