Currently the Klondyke Strikes chain has 25 garden centres in the UK making it one of the bigger players in the garden centre business.

It all started in 1980 when Bob and Dorothy Gault bought a failing, small garden nursery with the primary purpose of expanding their camping business.

That business began to struggle but the nursery side of the business began to take off. Klondyke Garden centres was born.

Bob and Dorothy then purchased a new site in Stirling, Scotland to expand their garden centre enterprise. This branch has continued to this day and and is their flagship garden centre. Livingston garden centre in West Lothian followed in 1985 and to date they have have six garden centres in Scotland. One garden centre was acquired in England under the name of Klondyke which was Lampton Park, Durham in 1994.

In the same year Bob and Dorthy Gault literally doubled the number of garden centres they owned by purchasing Strikes Garden Centres bringing the total to fourteen. Acquisitions proceeded on over the years with the purchase of Lady Green and Brookside Garden Centre in 2008 being the most recent. The current total is now 25 garden centres.

For administrative reasons they split the garden centres with Klondyke being the owner of all six Scottish garden centres and Strikes responsible for the 19 English and Welsh garden centres. In March 2011 Bob Gault died and Dorothy Gault was appointed Chairman (or should that be chairwoman) of the Klondyke Group of garden centres.
