The area devoted to plants could be described as that of
a medium to large garden centre however at Hilltop they have
managed to cram a lot of plants into this area. The paths
are slightly narrower than normal allowing more space for
plant displays. The surface is solid all the way round and
easy to walk on. The plant bays are arranged attractively,
not just simple row upon row.
It's not bad news at Hilltop if it's raining because the
main pathway is under cover as are several other areas. The
choice of plants is wide-ranging from common varieties to
others which are slightly unusual. They stock an unusually
large selection of ornamental and fruit trees. All the
plants were in tip top condition and keenly priced.
One minor problem we have with the plants area is the
lack of large signs. With a largish plants area it is
difficult to find specific plants easily. The smaller,
individual plant labels are fine, descriptive and helpful.
