CHOOSE GARDEN CENTRES BY COUNTY BELOW
This independent review of Warwick Garden Centre was written by David Marks and was last updated in June 2025.
This is an in depth review by a real human as a result of visiting this garden centre, no Artificial Intelligence is involved!
We reviewed the inside and plant sales areas, took pictures (see lower down this article) and checked out the cafe. The cafe check involved ordering and tasting the food and reporting our findings for you to judge.
BACKGROUND AND HISTORY WARWICK GARDEN CENTRE
Warwick Garden Centre was originally owned by Country Gardens. That chain of garden centres was acquired by the Wyevale Group of Garden Centres in 2000.
In 2019, Wyevale sold 31 of its garden centres to Dobbies, one of those garden centres was this Stratford upon Avon store. It closed operations in December 2023.
In March 2025 the garden centre, having being acquired by the nearby Stratford Garden Centre, reopened it's door under the new owners with the new name of Warwick Garden Centre. A rather strange name because the garden centre is in Stratford upon Avon and not Warwick.
Warwick Garden Centre is a medium to large garden centre, it has a decent cafe, medium to large plants area and also sells gifts, cards, garden accessories and all the usual goods you would expect of a garden centre of this size. It's very worthy of a visit for an hour or so.
IS WARWICK GARDEN CENTRE DOG FRIENDLY? Yes! Well behaved dogs are allowed in Warwick Garden Centre. Currently they are also trialing separate dog areas in the indoor and outdoor areas of the restaurant.

SIZE: Medium to large.
FOOD TYPE: A typical garden centre menu serving sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes soup of the day and side dishes. These are served from 9am to 4.30pm daily (10am to 3.30pm on Sundays). They also offer a choice of seven main meals from 12noon to 4.30pm daily (12noon to 3.30pm on Sundays) and children have their own main meals.

Breakfasts are well catered for with both adult and children's choices. These are served up to 11.30am. Scones and cream teas are available from 9am to 5pm (10am to 4pm on Sundays). There is a wide choice of teas and coffees, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks.

FOOD QUALITY: The quality of food is very good, far better compared to the quality when Dobbies was running this garden centre. It's served attractively on the plate.
DECOR: A plain but functional area with plastic tables and chairs. Everything, including the floor, tables and chairs are very clean.
OUTDOOR SEATING: There is a reasonably sized outdoor seating which is under cover. Tables and chairs are chunky wood.
SERVICE: You have two options for ordering your food and drinks, either directly from the main counter or via your mobile at your table. See the picture below for specific details.
Cafe ordering system at Warwick Garden Centre
Both systems worked well for us even when we visited on a May Bank Holiday Monday. If you order using your mobile, the meal will be delivered to your table. If you order at the main counter the queue is minimal.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Looking at the menu, the prices are slightly higher than average but in our opinion (gained after eating more than a hundred garden centre cafe meals), the above average quality of the meals fully warrant this. This cafe represents very good value for money.
SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Medium
PLANT SELECTION: For the space on offer there is a good choice of plants and all were in good condition.

LAYOUT: The layout of the the plants area is functional rather than interesting but it's kept clean and obstruction free. The paths are wide with a solid surface so no problems for wheelchair users.
Covered walkway at Warwick Garden CentreVALUE FOR MONEY: About average for a garden centre of this type.
SIZE: Medium
LAYOUT: Rather boring layout, basically a big room with areas of it selling this and that. The layout has hardly changed from when Dobbies ran this garden centre, hopefully the new owners will update it soon.
Having said that, there are all the gardening accessories you might need, cards, gifts, homeware, a butchers, deli section and more.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Average
ACCESS: Very good, all floors are level and solid inside and outside.
