DOG FRIENDLY? Hilltop Garden Centre is dog friendly. Well behaved dogs are allowed in all areas of the garden centre except the cafe. There are outside areas of the cafe where dogs are allowed, please ask for more information when visiting the cafe.

SIZE: This is a medium sized cafe.
FOOD TYPE: The main cafe serves typical garden centre food with everything from coffees / teas, cakes, breakfasts to main meals.
FOOD QUALITY:
We
sampled a bacon and tomato batch which was good. The quality of the bacon was
very good and well cooked. The tomatoes were unusually tasty.

We also sampled a sausage roll (see picture above) which although cheap was rather disappointing as far as size and taste were concerned. The coffees (Americano and Cappuccino) certainly tasted as if they had come out of a machine, and were below standard compared to most garden centre coffees.
Although we didn't sample the cakes they looked very good.

DECOR:
There were two cafe areas and the decor in both were very acceptable. Both were
clean, light and airy. The larger of the two was reserved for a pre-booked event
when we visited.

SERVICE:
Service was prompt and courteous with minimal waiting time.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
When we
first looked at the menu on the online website, the value looked very good.
However it appears that it has not been updated for a year or more and prices on
the menu at the cafe had increased, as it has done for every eating
establishment over the last couple of years. The menu picture below is the
latest at the time of writing.

SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Medium sized bordering on large
PLANT SELECTION:
There is a large selection of plants at Hilltop Garden Centre and not only the
normal ones. There are some rather unusual ones and a good selection of mature
plants.

LAYOUT:
The layout of the plants area is engaging with lots of twists and turns and
nooks and crannies.

As well as the extensive main plants area there is a sizeable covered area for more tender plants. This provides some cover for when it is raining.

There are signs for the major plant groups but we did notice that that placement of the plants was somewhat haphazard.
The outside area also had an excellent display of rustic wooden garden furniture at very good prices. This is in addition to the garden furniture displayed inside.

VALUE FOR MONEY:
Value
for money, as far as the plants are concerned, is good. The plants are on the
cheap side and healthy.
SIZE: This is a medium to large sized sales are which sells every thing you would expect from a modern garden centre.
LAYOUT:
The layout is interesting with level and wide aisles. The range of garden water
features is particularly large and wide-ranging. The same can be said of the
garden and patio furniture which are all well displayed.
