CHOOSE GARDEN CENTRES BY COUNTY BELOW

We reviewed the inside and plant sales areas, took pictures (see lower down this article) and checked out the cafe. The cafe check involved ordering and tasting the food and reporting our findings for you to judge.

IS TEWKESBURY GARDEN CENTRE DOG FRIENDLY? Tewkesbury Garden Centre is dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in all parts of the garden centre except the main cafe area. However dogs are allowed into the Garden Room of the cafe which is enclosed and covered.

SIZE: Medium sized.
FOOD TYPE: Breakfast (every day of the week) and lunch (excluding Sundays) food is what you might expect from a garden centre cafe as are the prices.

At the time of our visit to this cafe the Sunday lunch menu offered a choice of three roast meals plus starters rather than the normal daily lunch menu. One vegan / vegetarian option was also available.
DECOR: The main cafe area is very pleasant and clean with solid wood tables. The area is narrow resulting in rather regimented rows of tables but there is really no alternative layout. The Garden seating area is enclosed and covered.

In this area we found that much of the seating covering was badly stained and in need of replacement. The exterior of the see-thru plastic ceiling was not very clean at all and covered in leaves.
SERVICE: This was prompt and very courteous. They even come to ask you half way through your meal if all is OK.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Average value for money.

SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Medium sized
PLANT SELECTION: For the size of this plants area it offers a good range of healthy plants.
We found no evidence that Tewkesbury offer a hardy plant guarantee. This is out of step with the majority of garden centres which normally offer a minimum one year guarantee and often significantly longer.
LAYOUT: Attractive layout. The surfaces are a random selection of tarmac, paving and gravel. At points the gravel is soft and would definitely be difficult for wheelchair users. The site is relatively level. Signage to plant groups is lacking.

Most areas OK but some areas problematic. The car park is near the entrance and on relatively level ground.
