Haslemere Garden Centre is an independently run medium to large sized garden centre which prides itself on a high level of service. The plants area is quite basic for a garden centre of this size with many of the plants being displayed at low level or on the floor. The paths are solid paving stones and there are plenty of large signs around with plants also being in alphabetic order. Tender and seasonal plants are stored in a covered area. Although the plants area is nothing special it somehow manages to remain interesting and conducive to browsing.
This is not a nursery so you can expect all the plants to have been grown elsewhere. The area is well kept and the plants all looked in good condition although a hardy plant guarantee was missing.
They sell a full range of plants including vegetables, herbs, bedding plants and hanging baskets when in season, shrubs, roses, climbers, ornamental and fruit trees. The outside area has a full range of composts and soil improvers as well as fencing, screens, frames for climbing plants, pergolas and other wooden garden structures.
The World of Water aquatics centre at Haslemere Garden Centre is a major attraction not only for fans of aquatics but also for those who like water features and ponds in their garden. The display area is impressive by any standards and it will give you lots of ideas. There are several display ponds stocked with aquatic plants.
The inside area stocks everything you would expect from a medium to large garden centre. They have a full choice of garden accessories, a large section devoted to garden furniture and an impressive range of barbecues. All in all it's quite an attraction in its own right and combined with the garden centre facilities it's impressive.
Christmas is not forgotten at Haslemere Garden Centre with Santa making regular appearances for the kids. Real and synthetic trees are available as is an excellent choice of Christmas decorations, lights, seasonal food and lots more.
They currently have no club / reward membership scheme at Squires garden centres. Click here if you want to see a comparison of garden garden centres which do have reward / discount cards.
The staff are welcoming and service is prompt and pleasant. The food is exceptional, it really tastes homemade and is attractively presented. Some of the food is served on wooden chopping boards which sounds a bit twee but is definitely effective. If you are gluten intolerant then this cafe will certainly do you proud.
Sweetpeas Cafe serve everything from a cup of coffee to a full main meal, breakfasts are a particular speciality. Salads, baguettes and lots more snack type meals are available and we were impressed with the cakes. Overall this is an excellent cafe with reasonable prices given the quality of the food.
The Sweetpeas Cafe was awarded a five star rating for food hygiene in July 2013 by Waverley Borough Council. Click here for more details.
