The plants area has been laid out in attractive manner with several interesting displays to keep customers interested. A good portion of it is under cover making shopping for many of the plants possible even on rainy days. The paths are wide, level and clutter free, wheelchair access is very good all round.
The inside sales area is very large and makes for a good few hours shopping time, not necessarily all to do with gardening!
A few times a year there are guided tours of the nursery which last around an hour. These are free and well worth attending. Click here for details of the tour which we went on in May.
We sampled a Caesar Salad (click picture above to enlarge) and a baked potato. The salad was excellent and exactly what we expected. Lots of chicken, croutons, different salad leaves and a reasonably authentic dressing - an excellent attempt at a Caesar Salad. The baked potato was hot, well-cooked and had lots of filling. Overall the food we tasted was good quality, reasonably priced and served promptly and pleasantly.
As well as the a very attractive indoor seating area there is also a courtyard shared between the two cafes. This is used as an outdoor seating area and is a very pleasant open space to enjoy the food and drinks on a warm day.
The cafe was awarded a five star rating for food hygiene by the Food Standards Agency in October 2011.
