CAFE REVIEW FOR J and L GARDEN CENTRE

DECOR AND SEATING
The cafe at the J and L Garden Centre is extremely attractive being themed on the style of a Swiss Chalet. In cooler times there is a large log fie burning which adds to the character of the cafe.

The tables and chairs are solid, chunky wood and the walls are lapped with more wood. Lots of thought has gone into the design of this cafe, an example which others could learn from. The J and L cafe is a stand alone room with good decor and kept absolutely clean. We saw an outside seating area although this was not in use when we visited.

Beware the brown Labrador dog which wanders around the cafe! He is totally tame and wouldn't hurt a fly but mournful and very jealous eyes fix you as you eat your food!

THE PRICES AND RANGE OF FOOD
Prices are good given the quality of the food, Examples include breakfast which is served until mid-day at £4.95 for the lite version and £6.95 for the full English version. Light snacks include soup, toasties, paninis and jacket potatoes from £4 to £6. Baguettes are £5 and main meals range from £7.50 to £8.50. However if you go for the house specials of Tartiflette or Berthaud they will cost you around £14.

The J and L cafe also does a good choice of pizzas costing from £6 to £8. Teas, coffees and alcoholic drinks are served with an appealing range of cakes.

QUALITY OF FOOD
The quality of the food is excellent. Good ingredients and good presentation.

SERVICE
We waited 15 minutes for a 'lite' breakfast, from ordering to receiving the meal. Toast was also included (an extra pound or so) even though we had specifically excluded it from the order. The wait was shorter than our two less recent visits so it looks like speed of service has improved.

CONCLUSION
Top marks for the effort put into the Swiss Chalet themed decor, it makes eating in this cafe a pleasure. The food is excellent as well.

We hope you have enjoyed and benefited from this independent review of the Cafe  at J and L Garden Centre. Remember that it is our opinion and may be the result of one visit only.
