REVIEW RESULTS - BROWNES GARDEN CENTRE

Brownes Garden centre is no flash in the pan! It has been in the same family from 1808 when Emmanuel Brown (the spelling changed along the way) established a nursery on the site. So far, eight generations of the family have been involved in the business.

THE PLANTS DISPLAY AREA
Entrance to the Brownes Garden Centre The plants are mainly laid out on the floor with some of them being on slightly raised beds. The flooring is gravel and it is hard enough to make access easy.

The plants themselves were in very good condition and there was a good choice. Most people will find what they are looking for.

Prices are one of Brownes good points, they undercut the competition in many areas. For instance their rose start at £6 which is excellent value for a good quality plants. At Christmas time they stock a very good choice of Christmas trees and seasonal houseplants.

Lots of pots are also on show as is a massive selection of different compost - an unusually large selection for a garden centre of this size. There is also a small kiddies play area and an attractive pond water feature,

INSIDE SALES AREA
They have a small to medium sized covered area which houses tender plants and gardening accessories. The prices in this area were also very competitive.

GARDEN ROOM CAFE
Cafe at brownes Garden Centre There is a cafe in its own building at the far end of the garden centre. This is a simple but very pleasant set up in a light and airy room.

They serve teas, coffees, toasties and a superb range of cakes. All the food is homemade and we thoroughly recommend this cafe for a quick snack or a tea / coffee. They have an outdoor seating area as well.
