Notcutts Bagshot garden centre is in negotiations with Waitrose to create a multi-store development on their existing site.

Supermarket / garden centre sites are a boom area in shopping at the moment with a couple of other supermarkets also also planning similar developments around the UK.

Don't expect anything to happen soon though because the plans have only recently been submitted to Surrey Heath Borough Council. The consultation process with local residents and organisations began in February 2013 with a presentation to the public.

The new Waitrose store is proposed to occupy 21,000sq ft. The Notcutts garden centre will remain the same size but will be significantly refurbished. The overall development will create 160 new jobs on the Waitrose site.
