Tansley Barn Garden Centre has been in existence for over 200 years, originally growing hardy plants and trees for sale elsewhere including the Royal household. The nursery side of the business continues but it has now expanded into a full-sized garden centre selling a wide range of plants and trees.

Much of the outside area is now covered, allowing customers to look for plants whatever the weather. The layout interesting with curved paths and excellent displays. Landscaping materials are a particular specialist area. Hardy plants come with a one year guarantee.

The gift shop is set in an attractive barn with garden, indoor and conservatory furniture, gardening goods, bird feeds and cookware. A large area is dedicated to aquatics materials and fish. The Farm Shop does an excellent job of selling local produce including meat, poultry, cheeses, freshly baked bread (delicious!) and other deli items.

THE CAFE AT TANSLEY BARN GARDEN CENTRE

You have two choices at Tansley Barn as far as food and drink are concerned. If a tea / coffee with cake is called for then the Chocolate cafe is the best choice they also sell snack meals.

For larger meals (snacks and drinks as well) Heather's Cafe serves home cooked and locally sourced meals. The scones are a delight but they also serve full breakfasts, main meal lunches and snacks. The cafe is very pleasantly laid out with proper table cloths and attractive decor. It does get busy at peak times so call in early for your lunch or snack.

The cafe was awarded five stars (highest rating possible) for Food Hygiene in May 2023 by North east Derbyshire District Council.
