Ryton Organic Gardens is now owned by Webbs and they have carried on the previous tradition of developing the site to show gardeners how to use organic methods. An entry charge of £5.50 (adults) / £3.50 (OAPs and children) is made but it is well worth the money.
There are several themed areas showing particular gardening methods and techniques. Two of particular interest are the fruit tree section which demonstrates how to grow fruit trees in almost every imaginable shape and form. Another particularly impressive area is the display of composting techniques and equipment.
A new conservatory cafe was opened in 2012 and this provides light meals, snacks, cakes and a choice of drinks all in a very light and airy atmosphere.
The plant centre stocks a choice of organically grown plants and they look healthy and reasonably priced. Most of the area, gardens included, is wheelchair friendly. Only guide dogs are allowed entry to Ryton Organic.
