THE PLANTS AT PLYMOUH GARDEN CENTRE

This is a medium to large sized garden centre which stocks a wide range of plants, trees, shrubs etc., more than enough for the average gardener to choose from. The area is mainly hard paved and the plants are displayed on raised displays. Signage is good as is individual plant displays. All the stock is bought in however many of the suppliers are local. Hardy plants, including trees come with a two year hardy plant guarantee. Prices are on the low side and the plants are top quality.

With regard to prices we were particularly impressed with the website for Plymouth Garden Centre which is not shy of publicising their prices for plants and other items. Three bags of Westland 60 litre multi-purpose compost costs a very reasonable £12 for a garden centre in this area. Growing bags are for sale at £2.50 each or three for £6.

INTERIOR SALES

The interior sales area stocks all the accessories needed to keep your garden in trim from pesticides through to tools. They also sell lots of top quality garden and conservatory furniture including Alexander Rose and Kettler models to name a few. The choice of greenhouses and sheds is good as is the selection of high end barbecues. They have recently opened a new clothing section. In general, the interior sales area stocks everything you would expect for a largish garden centre.

THE CAFE AT PLYMOUTH GARDEN CENTRE

We haven't visited the cafe but reading the reviews on the internet they all seem to have similar opinions. The cafe interior is unremarkable and the service is slow even at non-peak times. Food quality is OK but nothing special to write home about. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas. See the comments section near the end of this page for an alternate opinion of the cafe. It was awarded a five star rating for food hygiene in August 2013 by Plymouth City Council. Click here for the full report.

I think your comments about the coffee shop are a little unfair. Like you say you haven't been there so perhaps you shouldn't comment. I eat there at least twice a week and I think it's great, the service can be slow at peak times but the staff are always very nice and they are making it from scratch so it's worth the wait. Quite often when I have been there I struggle to get a seat so I think that speaks volumes.
