Millbrook Garden Centre in Gravesend is a largish garden centre which was first opened in 1994. The plants area is attractively designed around a central water feature with masses of space. All the areas are block paved allowing easy access even for wheelchair users.

Around a third of the plants for sale have been grown at Millbrook's own plant nursery and certainly, plant quality is high. Hardy shrubs come with a two year guarantee. The variety of plants is fine although they specialise in no particular area. To the rear of the outside sales area is a wildlife area and customers are allowed to walk in it. The bird hide and "insect hotel" are particularly popular with both adults and children.

The interior sales area stocks garden accessories and a number of other goods such as garden and conservatory furniture, barbecues, gifts, cards, books etc. The aquatics department is run run by Swallow Aquatics, clothes come courtesy of Cotton Traders, Deaves Conservatories and Skinners Sheds provide a good choice of garden buildings.

THE CAFE AT MILLBROOK GRAVESEND GARDEN CENTRE

The Greencafe is a pleasantly decorated 90 seater cafe which serves breakfasts (9.00 to 11.30), main meals, snacks and drinks. As far as prices go they are slightly on the high side for a garden centre with main meals costing around £8.50 although the ham, egg and chips at £6.50 is good value. Children's lunches cost £3.50 to £3.95.

The cafe was awarded the top five star rating for food hygiene by the Food Standards Agency in February 2013.
