Marple Garden Centre started life out in 1966 as a a small nursery selling mainly bedding plants. In 1978 it was extended and converted into a small garden centre. Dobbies are the current owners.

They sell a good choice of plants and hardy shrubs come with their standard five year guarantee. The interior sales area sells the full range of gardening accessories to satisfy most gardeners needs. they also sell gifts, cards houseplants and other non-gardening items.

On site is the Dragon Miniature Railway, an attraction for kids and adults. For a railway the track is unusually steep. Along the way, stop off at the children's playground and have a picnic, a superb way to spend half a day if the weather is good.

Marple Garden Centre also host a Farmers Market on the last Sunday in each month. Their Christmas celebrations are well known locally.

Visited here Friday 17/04/15 looking for some shrubs. Everything we saw was dry and seedy looking. Was about to move on but daughter was gasping for a cup of tea so we went to the cafe and ordered a pot of tea for two from a surly waitress who seemed loath to serve us. Some minutes later she returned with two cups of hot water and teabags, no milk, no saucers and not even spoons. When we complained she went off in a strop and finally returned with milk, saucers spoons and a pot of tea! For this experience we were charged £3.80! This place has gone to the dogs - last time we'll visit.

Lovely garden centre, we browse at least once a week and spend a bomb on David Austin roses, which my wife loves! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Everything you need in a garden centre.
