EMAIL: Lime Cross Nurseryy
In the early 1970s mass production and centralised distribution of cut flowers in places like Amsterdam wiped out many UK nurseries in that business. However Lime Cross branched out into growing containerised shrubs and trees, a particularly fore-sighted course of action.
The garden centre plants area is laid out in a very pleasant manner encouraging you to browse the range of plants they display. They most definitely do specialise in shrubs (especially conifers) and trees of all sizes. Throughout the year they also stock seasonal bedding plants, hanging baskets and herbs.
The gardens are an inspiration to those looking for evergreen plants. This is is your chance to see them growing in natural surroundings and judge if a particular variety is suitable for your garden. Because it is an evergreen garden it looks good at any time of the year and thoroughly recommend a visit.
The shop stocks mainly gardening accessories although at Christmas, trees and decorations come to the forefront. Those in wheelchairs will find parking, access and getting round very easy.
Lime Cross Nursery do no have a rewards card / discount scheme. If you want a comparison of garden centres which do click here for our page full of information on the various discounts available at other garden centres.
If you visit in time for breakfast their "Big Works" breakfast at £7.95 is truly memorable. If you know your bacon then their dry cured bacon sandwich (available all day) at £4.50 is highly recommended by us. All in all this is garden centre cafe food at its best and the prices are very reasonable. For those with a dog ask for their table reserved especially for this purpose.
