The Winchester branch of Hillier Garden centres is their oldest and has been owned by them from when it was originally opened many decades ago. The site itself has been operational as part of Hillier's from 1874.

This is a medium sized garden centre which is near the centre of Winchester. A couple of other Hillier branches are in town centres including the larger Banbury branch. The design and layout of the plants area is very well executed with lots of trees on the borders providing interest for most of the year. No boring straight lines of plant bays at the Hillier Garden Centre in Winchester, no, there are lots of nooks and crannies to explore here.

The plants themselves are all well kept and in good condition. The sales area may be small but they make the most of it with plants well suited to growing in the Winchester area.

Inside you will find a reasonable selection of garden chemicals, tools and other essential accessories. In spring and summer you will also find garden furniture and barbecues.

The cafe at Hillier Garden Centre, Winchester was awarded a four star (maximum five stars) rating for food hygiene by the Food Standards Agency in October 2012.
