Glebe Garden Centre first opened in 1975 and was bought by the current owner in 1979. The garden centre has undergone two major expansions in 1990 and 2002. They increased the amount of land and also doubled the undercover sales area.
A full range of plants and trees is stocked in the plants area and at Glebe Garden Centre they take great care to display the plants with lots of information on the site and soil they are best suited to.
Inside they stock a good range of Leisuregrow barbecues and accessories, a very large choice of different garden and conservatory furniture, not forgetting all the accessories for gardening. Just outside is a display of garden sheds and summer supplies manufactured by the Albany Shed Company. The aquatics department doesn't sell live fish but they do stock a wide range of aquatics accessories and water features.
In common with many garden centres Glebe stock bird care, cards, gifts, homeware, books and sweets. House plants are well displayed and healthy and they have a wide choice of orchids in season.
The Chives Cafe has a full menu including main meal specials which change daily, baguettes, paninis, salads, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, toasties, drinks and a choice of cakes. The prices are particularly competitive and many of vegetables and fruits are grown on their own allotment. Visitors to the garden centre can wander round the allotment to see how it being cared for and what is being grown.
Santa will make his first appearance at Glebe Garden Centre on 24 November 2012. He has his own grotto and kids will get a present when they visit him. Booking a visit to Santa is essential because last year places sold out quickly. As a special Christmas treat Santa will have two reindeer with him each weekend that the kids can stoke. There will also be special Santa breakfasts for the kids, more about that later.
Fresh Christmas trees include Nordman Fir and Nordman Spruce will be available in sizes from 1 metre to 3.5 metres high. Fraser Fir Christmas trees will be sold from 1.5m to 2.5m high.
