In common with many garden centres Paddock Wood started its life as a roadside market stall selling vegetables and other local produce. From its inception in 1956 to the mid 1990s it slowly grew into a full sized garden centre and was then bought by Wyevale Garden Centres in 1997.
Originally called Jackswood Garden Centre it was renamed to Paddock Garden Centre a few years ago. The plants area is laid out reasonably well with clear signs. Some more design work would not go amiss to provide more interest to the customer. Paths are wide, solid and well kept making for easy access including wheelchairs
The plants have been well maintained and hardy plants come with a five year guarantee. The selection is good although there are no specialist areas.
A large area is given over to Skinners Sheds and they have done a good job with their displays. The choice of sheds and other garden buildings is excellent as can be seen by their video here.
For pet lovers there is a good Pets Corner shop which not only sell a good choice of pet accessories and feeds but also provides a micro-chipping service.
