REVIEW RESULTS

Evesham Garden Centre is part of the blue Diamond Group who are the third largest garden centre retailer in the UK after Wyevale Garden Centres and Dobbies.

THE PLANTS AREA
The plants are displayed in a rather plain layout with just one central display, but not the truly regimented rows that appear in some garden centres. There was an almost total lack of signs in the plants a area which makes finding your way around a bit of a problem. This surprised us because with an area this size finding specific groups of plants was quite difficult.

The paths are pleasantly wide and there were no obstructions. The whole area was tidy and well kept. A small part of the outdoor area offered rain protection but most is simply open to the elements.

THE PLANTS
Evesham Garden Centre stock a wide range of plants and the stock is frequently changed to reflect the seasons of the gardening year. At the time we visited, early spring, there was an excellent range of roses, clematis, hebes, ornamental and fruit trees.

The quality of the plants was high with all of them in good health, well watered and weed free. We recommend the plants highly and with the large range you will find almost all you need here. Prices were average to slightly lower than normal. Clematis started at a reasonable £7.99, roses at £6.99, hebes at £8.99 and a 70 litre bag of own brand compost at £4.99. There were lots of staff in the plants area so you can easily obtain advice if you require it.

INSIDE EVESHAM GARDEN CENTRE
The indoor sales area at Evesham garden centre is extensive to say the least. Not only is the area large but they have crammed a lot into that area, not in an unpleasant way though. They stock a large range of gardening accessories, from tools to seeds, it's all there. Garden furniture and expensive barbecues are also well represented.

If houseplants are on your shopping list then Evesham Garden Centre have a good range of top quality plants to choose from. They are well displayed and the prices are about average. There are some good bargains to be had - we saw 2 African violets on offer for only £5.

There is a huge array of non-gardening goods on sale including gifts, cards, books, clothing and lots more. The overall feel of the inside sales area is pleasant and it's quite possible to browse here for an hour or two. The whole area is clean and well kept.

DISABLED ACCESS
Disabled access is good both inside and outside. The paths are wide and navigated easily for wheelchair users.

APPLE BARN RESTAURANT / CAFE
First, the prices as they were when we visited.
Full English Breakfast £5.95: Light breakfast £4.85
Carvery £8.95
Hot meal specials £7.95
Sandwiches from £4.95
Salads £7.25
Jacket potatoes from £4.25
Tea £1.30
Coffee £1.65
Lots of cakes and other snacks and a very comprehensive children's menu.

The cafe is very large seating over a hundred diners. The atmosphere is pleasant and well decorated - no exposed metal ceiling beams here. Everything is very clean and tidy.

Not only is there a full range of food on offer but at the Evesham Garden Centre cafe high quality goes with it as well. There is an outside seating area although when we visited in March it was, not unsurprisingly, closed. The other key indicator to the quality of a garden centre cafe is the number of customers. Even at non-peak times, this cafe is busier than most others, a good sign. There were no queues and the cafe staff were very pleasant.

OTHER STUFF
Car park - this was very large, near the garden centre and on level dry ground.
Pet Centre - no live animals were on sale but there was a good range of accessories and pet foods.
Aquatics - we saw none
Water Features - we saw none
Sheds and Greenhouses - we saw none
Toilets - functional and in good condition

SURROUNDING AREA AT EVESHAM GARDEN CENTRE
You can probably tell from the write-up above that we are impressed with the Evesham Garden Centre. But there is more to it than that. The garden centre is positioned on the Evesham Country Park and this is a great place for kids and adults.

First for kids there are several activities such as the railway and pottery making. For adults there is a large range of shops including a very large Millets Outdoor shop. It's probably best if you visit their website yourself so we give the link here.
