Barby Nurseries is owned by James Overton and it was originally set up from scratch in the late 1970s to supply plants to Tebbs Garden Centre which closed in January 2014. It has been expanded to operate as a retail operation and is still going strong as a family run business.

They sell a full range of plants including shrubs but their speciality is bedding plants, hanging baskets and planters. About 90% of the plants they sell are grown on site at the nurseries with the remainder being bought in from local suppliers during the peak season to satisfy the large demand. As well as plants they stock a good range of gardening accessories, composts, pots, planters and statues.

THE WILLOWS COFFEE SHOP

The Coffee Shop is really more than that serving a choice of main meal specials, lots of hot food, baguettes, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and homemade soups. Much of the food is freshly prepared on site, our favourites being the homemade chicken and mushroom pie or the beef lasagne. Main meals cost a very reasonable £6 to £7 and the full English breakfast at £7 is a bargain. 

If a coffee / tea and a cake is what you are after then their homemade cakes and treats will do the job very well. At Christmas they have a special seasonal menu. The cafe is light and airy with large windows at one end. Opening hours for the cafe are 9.15 to to 4.30 on Mondays to Saturdays and 10.00 to 4.30 on Sunday. There are seats for 34 indoors and a further 25 seats on the very attractive open air patio area.

A five star food hygiene rating (the highest possible rating) was awarded to the Willows Coffee Shop in March 2012 by Daventry District Council.
