June has been a disaster for garden centre revenues with a drop of 14% compared to the same month last year. Hardest hit of all has been garden furniture which has seen a massive drop of 35% compared to June last year.

Only cafe and restaurant sales have improved, showing a healthy 8% rise over last June.

Not only are June sales down but the CGA confirms that revenue of the largest 26 UK garden centres were nearly 1% down for the first six months of 2011.

The poor July weather to date and general economic circumstances look likely to cause further drops in July, wiping out the outstanding figures which were achieved in April 2011.
