This independent review of World's End Garden Centre in Aylesbury was written by David Marks and was last updated in June 2025.
This is an in depth review by a real human as a result of visiting this garden centre, no Artificial Intelligence is involved!
We reviewed the inside and plant sales areas, took pictures (see lower down this article) and checked out the cafe. The cafe check involved ordering and tasting the food and reporting our findings for you to judge.
World's End was a very small village about half a mile north of Wendover in Aylesbury. It is from this small village that World's End Garden Centre takes its name.
World's End Garden Centre was first established by the Bone brothers in 1972 as a simple stall selling fruits, vegetables and flowers. They expanded the business with remarkable speed and business acumen. By 1987 it had grown large enough to attract the attention of the Economic Forestry Group, now known as Tilhill Forestry.
The Economic Forestry Group purchased World's End Garden Centre in 1987 in a deal worth several million pounds - totally unheard of in the garden centre world in those days.
In 1993 World's End Garden Centre was again sold, this time to the Wyevale Group (West Coast Capital and Terra Firma). In April 2109 Wyevale sold the garden centre (freehold) to Dobbies for £13 million.
Finally in March 2025 Blue Diamond took over the leasehold of World's End Garden Centre and reopened it in May 2025.
IS WORLD'S END GARDEN CENTRE DOG FRIENDLY? Yes, World's End Garden Centre is dog friendly. Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the garden centre. The cafe has a special area set aside (under cover in the main cafe) for dog owners and their dogs.

SIZE: This cafe has around 45 four seater tables so it's bordering on being a large cafe.

FOOD TYPE: The cafe at World's End Garden Centre, called the Gardener's Rest, is normal for a Blue Diamond cafe. The food on offer and the prices are best described by the menus shown below - all can be enlarged if you click on them.

FOOD QUALITY: We sampled the Light Breakfast (£9.95) to give us an idea of food quality at this cafe. The sausage was top quality, the bacon also tasted great but part of it was folded over giving it an uncooked look. Overall, it was a good breakfast although the amount of food for £9.95 was slightly lacking for the price.

The menu choice for children was rather limited.
DECOR: Certainly the cafe was very clean, the furnishing were plastic and functional. The overall impression though was that of a works canteen. This may have been because there was no carpeting on the wooden floor to absorb noise which highlighted the tiny sound of cutlery clinking on plates.
OUTDOOR SEATING: There is an uncovered outdoor seating area which is rather bland. At the time of our visit there were eight tables but it's clear that around another ten tables will be made available soon.

SERVICE: Service for main meals was to your table and there was no delay at all ordering and very little wait time for the meal to be delivered to your table.
What would have been appreciated was a laminated sheet available to indicate the table was reserved while you were ordering.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Average.

SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: The plants area is reasonably large.
PLANT SELECTION: Plant selection is good, you will most likely find the plants you want at this garden centre.
Interestingly many of the plants for sale at Blue Diamond garden centres are gown on their own nurseries, principally at Bridgemere and Worfield Nurseries.
Hardy plants benefit from the standard Blue Diamond 5 year guarantee.
LAYOUT: The layout was uninspiring, straight rows of plants with nothing of interest. Parts of the plant area was under cover, we would guess about 25% so this is not a place to wander around if it is raining. The area is kept very clean and free from obstructions with wide, solid surfaces and mainly level paths. There are some slopes in the plants area although these should not prove to be a problem for most wheelchair users.

Plants area layout at World's End Garden Centre
There are plenty of signs in the plants area to direct you particular groups of plants. However the majority of these signs are at low level and difficult to see from a distance.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Prices for plants are on the high side. Shrub roses start at £22, clematis start at £20.
At the time of our visit (mid June 2025) the inside sales area was mainly still under construction. We hope to revisit World's End Garden Centre in the near future to complete this review.
At the far right end of the car park as you enter there is a fruit and vegetable stall called World's Finest Fruits and also a Maidenhead Aquatics store selling fish and fish accessories.
At the far left end of the car park as you enter there is LindenGate Charity gardens. Opening times are restricted but it looks well worth a wander round their gardens if you are there when they are open.
The car park is on flat ground and directly outside the garden centre. Be careful though, while we were making some notes about our visit it quickly became clear that cars were often entering and exiting at the wrong points. Better signage is needed although this has always been a problem for World's End Garden Centre because of its elongated design.
ACCESS: Disabled access is excellent inside and out.
