Hilliers Banbury
Farnborough Garden Centre
SIZE: Medium sized
FOOD TYPE: Breakfasts, coffees, teas, cakes, sandwiches, toasties, main meals - the lot!
FOOD QUALITY: Excellent. We live near this bistro and have sampled many items from their menu. Their breakfasts will not disappoint, their coffee and walnut cake will have you in paroxyms of delight and their main meals are delicious. Can't recommend highly enough.
Entrance to the Bistro at the National Herb Centre
On this website we have tasted food from garden centres all over the UK and this Bistro provides some of the best.
DECOR: A highly attractive eating area, solid wood furnishings with clean cushions, high beams - a great place for a meal. A very relaxing environment.
Countryside view at National Herb Centre
OUTDOOR SEATING: Yes, a very pleasant outdoor seating area with good furnishings and lovely views.
SERVICE: Excellent. We rarely visit this Bistro at weekends because it is so popular it can be well booked up. During the week is not a problem. If visiting at the weekend I would advise giving them a call and pre-booking.
If you just want a tea / coffee and a cake and are happy to sit outside, seating is rarely a problem.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Top quality food, top quality service and very pleasant surroundings.
SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Medium
PLANT SELECTION: As you would expect, the selection of herb plants is one of the largest in the UK. They also have a range of other plants such as clematis, roses and many others. They have a surprisingly large choice of fruit trees.

LAYOUT: The layout is very pleasant with some long rows of plants but other areas break up this regimented approach.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Very good, great value for money.
SIZE: Small
LAYOUT: This is a gift and garden items shop. It is interesting to wander round and well presented given its small size. The picture below shows one part of the shop.
VALUE FOR MONEY: About average
ACCESS: Good (one small slope) but don't try the nature trail if you have mobility problems.. The walk down is OK but the walk back up is more challenging.

FACILITIES: As mentioned above, there is a Nature Trail at the National Herb Centre which takes you through beautiful countryside.
