 Entrance to Badger Garden Centre
The Golden Acres Wyevale Garden Centres acquired Badger Garden Centre in October 2011. They plan significant expansion over the 18 months following the takeover.

This is a medium sized garden centre which sources many of its plants from the adjoining but now independent Badger Nurseries.

The outside plants area is more basic than many garden centres of this size. About a third of the area is paved with the remaining paths being of slightly loose gravel which can occasionally get a bit muddy after rain. There are signs to show where some of the plant groups are located. There are two covered areas although the majority of the plants area is uncovered.

The choice of plants is good and they specialise in a beautiful display of lavender, they also stock lots of fruit and ornamental trees. The range of larger than normal plants is also good. To one side of the garden centre is a display of greenhouses, unusual for a garden centre of this size. Bedding plants, when in season, are a prominent part of the display and the prices extremely competitive.

A brief inspection of the prices show that roses start at £7.99, Miracle Gro 1kg is £3.49, 1 litre of Tomorite £2.99. These and other prices are definitely on the low side.

The interior sales area concentrates on supplying garden accessories and it does a good job at that. They also stock a good choice of garden furniture, parasols etc attractively displayed. The other area where Badger Garden Centre excels is in houseplants. They clearly have the largest selection in the area and the plants are fairly priced and in good condition. A small selection of gifts and cards is also on display.

Visited today in search of Forest Bark Chippings which I was struggling to source. Was very impressed with quality and variety of plants and garden products. Well done Badger Garden centre, yes it's a work in progress but we look forward to future visits and a coffee shop.

Being refurbished but only slowly At the time of writing the car park refurbishment has been in progress for months but is still rough hardcore which can get muddy. There is a new main block but no sign of the promised cafe. Plant area has been block paved and brought up to date. The indoor plant area was in the old sheds and has yet to get a replacement.

Visited today..1/07/2013. The July plant offers were excellent value, as was the price of compost. Friendly staff and good service.
