SIZE: Large
FOOD TYPE: The main cafe serves typical garden centre food with everything from coffees / teas, cakes, breakfasts to main and snack meals.
FOOD QUALITY: The ingredients are good and the food we tasted was cooked well.
DECOR: The decor was modern, clean and functional. The cafe is situated in its own dedicated area which works well.
OUTDOOR SEATING: Yes, it was a very pleasant area for a meal or a snack
SERVICE: Service was acceptable but not particularly prompt
VALUE FOR MONEY: Slightly higher than average prices.
SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Large
PLANT SELECTION: A quick inspection of the plants showed them to be in very good condition, backed up by a very generous five year hardy plant guarantee. Getting round the garden centre to quickly locate a particular plant is made easy by clear informative signs. Individual plant descriptions are also reasonably good.
To the far right of the plants area is a good display of stoneware, gravel etc. and medium to large garden buildings. What did surprise us was a shoe shop (in its own building) at the far end of the plants area. Why place it there we have no idea.
LAYOUT: Considerable thought has been applied to the design of this garden centre. The first part of the plants area is covered and is home to tender plants and other weather intolerant gardening goods.
The uncovered part of the garden centre is large and a pleasant place to browse for plants. There is a wide path that circles the main plant area with pleasant wooden beams covering it. These beams provide little or no rain protection though.
The paths are mainly solid stone but about a quarter of the area has reasonably solid gravel flooring. As well as short paths at angles to each other, displays provide interest and make the area attractive to shop in.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Prices were in general above average.
SIZE: Large
LAYOUT: The interior shopping area is well designed and has an airy pleasant look to it. In part this may be due to a false ceiling which covers the metal beams that are so unsightly in many garden centres.
Indoor and outdoor garden furniture is well displayed at Woodford Park Garden Centre. Also worthy of note is the Food Hall which you will go through immediately after entering the garden centre - very tempting deli type foods. The house plant section is very well stocked and set out in an attractive manner. The prices however, seemed higher than normal. The Edinburgh Woollen Mill is one of the largest we have seen in a garden centre, stocking a wide range of clothes.
Woodford Park have their own excellent club card scheme (the Blue Diamond Group scheme) with various benefits for their members. Details of the club and a comparison with the clubs of other garden centres can be found by clicking here. If you are thinking of visiting this garden centre to make a purchase it may well be worth taking a look at their discounts and rewards.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Slightly more expensive than average

Had a really good lunch this week in the attractive restaurant. Surprised it was so smart for a garden centre even the really big ones aren't as nice as this. The staff were very helpful when I bought a winter jacket and then some plants for the winter. |

Spoke to a member of staff on outdoor plants called Chris. He was friendly, knew his plants and was only too keen to answer my questions. Great Garden Centre! |

Not happy with my visit today Friday after Xmas when I was going to purchase something which was on sale and then told it was a mistake. This item should have been removed the day before and they would use it as a display next year in my opinion bad service |
