Whitakers Garden Centre are owned by the diy chain Beesley and Fildes and this is the reason that you will find a reasonably large diy section in this garden centre. The garden centre is set in 22.5 acres of countryside giving them lots of room to sell plants and other gardening items.
The plants area is well designed and tends to avoid boring, long rows of by plants by breaking up the area with centre piece displays. The plants ore of top quality although a hardy plant guarantee would go some way reinforcing the quality of the plants as far as customers are concerned. The choice of plants is good, sufficient to satisfy the needs of most gardeners.
Whitakers have a large dedicated area for the display of Stonemarket paving, walling and landscaping products. This is one of the most comprehensive displays for this company in the UK, certainly the largest in the North West of England, and well worth a visit on its own account. Also on site is a pet and aquatics centre which stocks small animals, fish, feeds and accessories for both.
The floristry department is much larger than those found at most garden centres and they cater for weddings, funeral, special occasions and anything else which can be celebrated by flowers. They can even hire out large specimen plants for corporate events. There is also a good choice of indoor plants.
Inside Whitakers they sell a vast range of garden and diy goods all well displayed and fairly priced. As befits a largish garden centre they sell garden and patio furniture, gifts, books and lots more. Easily enough to while away a few afternoon hors just browsing.
