CAFE REVIEW FOR VAN HAGE, CHENIES
Unusually the cafe is split between two smallish buildings at this
garden centre. The building to the right has some tables near the
toilets and this was particularly dark because of a lack of windows.
The buildings themselves are set in the middle of the outdoor garden
centre which gives pleasant views. There is also an outdoor seating
are (see picture on the right) which is good for warm weather.
The decor is pleasant and the area is kept clean. The tables and
chairs inside are plastic but new and clean. The wrought iron tables
and chairs outside look good although without cushions (at the time
we visited at least) they are very hard and uncomfortable.
Service of main meals and hot snacks is by waitress to your table.
There were no queues when we visited at an off-peak time. Hot food
is only served from 11.30 onwards. The food tasted good for us and
the coffee and tea were excellent. There is a good choice of cakes
and snacks. Prices were about average for a cafe of this type.
OPENING HOURS
We assume these to be same as for the main garden centre. The Van
Hage Chenies website gives no other details.
