The sign on the entrance to this plants nursery declares it to be a "real nursery" and that it most certainly is. Neil has be in the horticultural business for several decades and moved to this site around 2000. Initially the business was wholesale only but from 2009 onwards it has been open to the general public.
They sell a good choice of stock including shrubs, herbaceous plants, ornamental and fruit trees, hedge plants and summer / autumn bedding. The layout is all very basic which is part of the appeal of this plants nursery, stock is laid out on the ground and you are encouraged to wander round and select whatever takes your fancy.
The vast majority of plants are grown on site so any questions you have will be answered both honestly and with first hand experience. There is no shop or cafe, this is a real working nursery and the owners are rightly proud of that. They specialise in shrubs and trees (ornamental and fruit) especially and have many varieties which are often not found in garden centres. They keep prices low and we would recommend them on that basis when we compare their prices against those of their more "flashy" nearby garden centres. If you like a bargain then this is the place to visit.
Other garden centres nearby include Forest Garden Centre, Chatsworth Garden Centre and Scotland Nurseries.
