Kings Hill Nurseries has been set up to help people with learning disabilities. At the same time however its is run on a commercial basis. The people who grow the plants at this nursery do it with a passion rarely seen in other nurseries. The other big plus is that most of the plants are grown on the premises so you can be sure they will thrive in your Coventry climate - they are after all used to the Coventry climate! They have a large greenhouse where most of the plants are on display for sale. This area is under cover so shopping for plants when it's raining is easy at this garden centre. There are a couple of other greenhouses on site where much of the cutting and potting on work is done. they are more than happy for you to wander round these areas to see exactly how the plants are raised. As far as price go they represent excellent value. Examples include roses starting at £5.50, clematis from £5.75 and common shrubs from £6.50. They specialise in bedding plants, pot planters and hanging baskets. If you let them know what baskets you want they will plant them up for you. In charge of making up the baskets is Shirley with her team of helpers. You can contact her to order your basket on 07577 135495 or call into the nursery to place your order. When the bedding plants are on display it is a truly colourful scene. The range of varieties is extensive, much larger than at many other garden centres. They also stock home-grown perennials, vegetable starter plants, climbers, herbs, shrubs and other plants. When Christmas approaches they have a large choice of cyclamen, poinsettias and of course Christmas trees and excellent value for money wreaths. This nursery is well worth a visit and the staff are very friendly. If you have any questions then simply ask and they will be more than happy to provide you with informed free and expert advice. To one side of the main polytunnel they have developed a set of gardens with different themes. Work is constantly underway on this and it's very pleasant to wander round them and the two ponds. The nursery has its own large car park on solid ground. Kings Hill Nursery are more than happy to give talks about their work and gardening in general to any organisations, allotment groups etc. which would appreciate it. They also have the facilities to escort groups around the nursery and gardens, a very pleasant outing especially on sunny days. OPENING HOURS
