FOOD TYPE: Snacks, cakes and coffee / tea, breakfasts and main meals.
FOOD QUALITY: We visited this cafe twice. One time for cakes and a drink and once for a main meal. The quality of the food is definitely good.
One our favourite snacks at a garden centre cafe is a scone, jam and clotted cream. The scones we had at Haddenham Garden Centre tasted as if they were just baked and were served to us at a warm temperature - exactly perfect.
To accompany it we chose a strawberry and banana smoothie (delicious taste and texture) and a great tasting cappuccino.

DECOR: The decor of the cafe was well above average, a very pleasant environment for a snack or meal.
OUTDOOR SEATING: There is an uncovered outdoor seating area. It is clean and functional but rather plain.

SERVICE: We were greeted almost immediately on arrival and shown to our table with a menu. Our order was taken after 10 minutes and our choice was served to the table in just under 10 minutes.
Service was provided by pleasant staff with no fuss. Overall, it is difficult to find fault with the service at the Haddenham Gardener's Retreat restaurant.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Given the very pleasant surroundings, the high level of service and the quality of food, we rate this cafe at four stars for value for money. Some of the main meals are not cheap but, all in all, they represent value for money.
SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Medium sized
PLANT SELECTION: Given the size of the area there was a varied selection of plants in good condition.
Hardy plants are offered with a one year guarantee.
LAYOUT: You first enter a covered area for the tender plants which is fully paved. This opens out onto the main plants area which is not covered. Signage is OK.
The entire area is level with solid flooring and wide paths. It's not a particularly inspiring area but not as boring as some.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Overall prices for plants are slightly higher then normal. For example the cheapest rose we could find was £9.99 but many of the roses were £30. The cheapest clematis we could find was £17.00.
SIZE: Medium sized
LAYOUT: All areas are easily accessible with wide paths and flat, solid surfaces. They stock a full range of gardening accessories and have a selection of healthy houseplants. The choice of garden furniture for sale is up-market.
