REVIEW RESULTS - J and L GARDEN CENTRE

J and L in Melton Mowbray (formerly The Grange) is a small to medium sized garden centre which has a ski equipment shop attached. A large part of their business consists of the Alpine Restaurant which is rightly well known in the area.

It was previously known as the Grange Garden Centre.

THE OUTSIDE AREA
The plants area is  very attractively arranged with lots of island beds and features.  to provide interest. In summer the arches will will add even more character to the plants area. There are no signs because the outside area is small enough to navigate round without them.

The paths are reasonably wide and nicely paved. The area is kept scrupulously clean, clutter-free and gives the impression of being vey up-market. About half the outside area is under some form of cover, it's not clear if that provides protection from rain or not

THE PLANTS
This is a smallish garden centre but the selection of plants for sale won't disappoint most gardeners. Lots of clematis (starting at £9.99) and roses. Unfortunately all the roses are from David Austen which means the prices are high, the cheapest we could see start at £13.99 and go upwards in price from there.

All the plants are attractively displayed and in good condition. Shrubs start at around £6.99.

They currently have no club / reward membership scheme at this garden centre.

INSIDE J and L GARDEN CENTRE
The main interior sales area is allocated to slightly unusual gifts, well worth a wander round. The area for gardening goods is small in comparison, though most of the basics are there.

Garden furniture is prominent feature of this relatively small garden centre with a small range of Alexander rose and other quality garden furniture.

DISABLED ACCESS
Disabled access is good inside and outside.

OTHER STUFF
Car park - Large and immediately out side the main entrance
Pet Centre - No
Aquatics - No
Water Features - A few
Sheds and Greenhouses - No
Toilets - Not known
Children's Play Area - No

At the end of the car park there is a ski equipment shop next to a Farm shop which has an excellent butcher.

CONCLUSION
A small to medium sized garden centre stocking a good range of plants in good condition. Slightly up market compared to many garden centres.
