OUR VIEWS ON CHARLECOTE GARDEN STORE

THE PLANTS AREA AT CHARLECOTE GARDEN STORE
This is a medium sized garden centre with about half the sales area devoted to plants. There is a good choice of plants on show and they all looked to be in excellent condition. Seasonal bedding plants, shrubs, vegetable plants and trees are all well-featured. There was also a surprisingly comprehensive choice of larger plants.

The available area for displaying the plants is mainly long an narrow. Not the best shape for displaying plants but the owners have laid out the area in an engaging and attractive manner. This is a garden centre which encourages you to explore further. The front area, containing mainly seasonal plants, is well covered from rain, making this garden centre good for a visit even on a rainy day.

The area to the rear is uncovered. The paths are solid paving making wheelchair access easy. The entire area is kept clean and free from clutter.

The Charlecote Garden Store have their own club card scheme (the Garden Store Group scheme) with various benefits for their members. Details of the club and a comparison with the clubs of other garden centres can be found by clicking here. If you are thinking of visiting this garden centre to make a purchase it may well be worth taking a look at their discounts and rewards.

INTERIOR SALES AREA
This area of the garden centre is plainly but attractively laid out. Similar to the outside area, the interior is mainly long and narrow. Somehow though, the design encourages you to wander around.

Although only a medium-sized garden centre, all the gardening accessories are on sale. Garden furniture is well-featured as is the display of barbecues. Gifts, cards, books, a Farm Shop offering locally sourced food, deli items, bird feeds and lots more are all for sale. This a medium-sized garden centre which appears to offer the same selection of gardening goods which much larger ones offer.

At the far end is a separate building which houses the Pet Centre. It's a large area to devote to pets and they stock a very large choice of pet accessories and feeds.

Other garden centres nearby in the Charlecote area include Red Road Nurseries and PYO, Charlecote Plant and Flowers and Red Road Fuchsias.

THE CAFE
The Greenery Restaurant is clean and simply laid out with good furnishings. It has a rather plain look to it and the carpet definitely needs replacing. The food served however is excellent. Well cooked, well presented, good portions and it tastes homemade. We tried the Cottage Pie at 6.95 and, to our taste buds, it was excellent. The beef had texture and flavour, the mash topping was just right. The vegetable (carrots, peas and Savoy cabbage) were cooked correctly and tasted fresh.

Service was prompt, friendly and main meals are served to your table. There is choice of four main meals, tea, coffee, cakes, cream teas, soups and more. Prices are very competitive given the quality of food.

CAR PARK
The car park is adequate but we know from experience that it can get full up on popular days and times. We've never not found a space but some "creative" parking can be required occasionally!

Great local garden centre , we have been visiting for years and although its not the biggest of centres the staff are nice and helpful and most importantly especially these days they actually know about plants! Plants are cheaper than most but the car park seems to small as often busy on tues and thurs as they have 10% off days for the reward card.
