CAFE REVIEW FOR BLOOMS GLOUCESTER GARDEN CENTRE
THE PRICES
We thought the prices represented very good value for money
considering the quality of the food and environment. Coffees are
£1.60 with tea just slightly cheaper. Our breakfast (sausage, 2
bacon, has brown, egg and beans) cost a paltry £3.49, that's superb
value for money. The main meals are about £7.00 with generous
portions and home made taste, again that's very good value.
RANGE OF FOOD
Blooms at Gloucester cafe has good range of food to choose from.
Three main meals, jacket potatoes, soup and roll, baguettes,
sandwiches, and salads. All the normal coffees and teas are also
available with an attractive and tasty selection of cakes. The cafe
is licensed and sells a larger than normal range of wines.
QUALITY OF FOOD
The quality of food is good, very good for the prices. We had a
breakfast with excellent sausages, egg and bacon. We then left it a
while and came back to sample the main meal Cottage Pie. This was
clearly cooked on the premises and tasted like home cooked food.
Excellent value at the prices offered. All the meals were on display
on the hot counter so you know exactly what you are getting. We also
noticed that hot counter was refreshed at very short intervals which
resulted in fresh food.
DECOR AND SEATING
The cafe area is set into the main garden centre and is not
enclosed. Sometimes this makes for a rather bleak outlook but not at
Blooms Gloucester Garden Centre. The reason is that the
main garden centre
is modern and attractive rather than the bare roof and metal girders
found at some garden centres.
There are three seating areas, the first being the coffee / tea bar
area which has lots of comfortable leather look chairs. The main
area has rather more sparse furnishings with plastic looking tables
and chairs. Because it is set in a modern environment it looks OK.
The third seating area is for families and children. Again this is a
basic affair but the big draw is the enclosed children's play area.
It is basically a smaller version of the inside kids play areas
which charge you a fiver for half an hour. It has netting all round
so is safe but parents can still keep an eye on the kids. With tubes
and ropes this is an excellent facility. The shouts and screams
coming from the play area clearly indicate that the kids love this.
SERVICE
Service was pleasant and quick with some main meals being delivered
to your table.
CONCLUSION
In general, the food served at Wyevale Garden Centres cafes has
improved significantly over the last few years. having said that,
the food at Blooms Gloucester garden centre (part of that group) is
some of the best we have seen. We also commend them on the very
reasonable prices.
